Today rocks of ice but hey, life has to go on...

It seems we are continuing to sink in rocks of ice today and temperatures are plummeting pretty fast!

Just been on the road and it feels as if you are constantly driving on the sheet of ice. This requires a little extra care as the use of break pedals is almost a no go area if you can avoid it. The driving itself is painstakingly slow and breathtaking requiring some additional skills.

We will see what tomorrow has in store for us – especially those who plan to hit the road early in the morning!!

Zambia to build new hydro power plant

LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambia plans to start building a major $1.5 billion power plant next year, which is expected to boost generation capacity by 600 megawatts (MW) when completed in 2017, a senior energy industry official said on Thursday.

Increased investment opportunities in mining, its economic lifeblood, have raised Zambia's power demand, leading to an electricity deficit which authorities want to overcome by constructing new generation plants.

Tribal Violence in Southern Sudan Kills 139

At least 139 people have been killed and 5,000 cattle seized in southern Sudan in clashes between rival tribes.

Reports indicate that Nuer tribesmen attacked Dinka cattle herders, who suffered most of the casualties.

Authorities in Juba, in southern Sudan, said Thursday they just learned of the tribal raids, which began in a remote area, Tonj, at the end of last week. U.N. aid officials are sending in a team to assess the situation.
