Bishop Abel Muzorewa, the country's first black Prime Minister died on Thursday at his home in Harare. The Methodist Church's website said the 84 year old Bishop, who was one of the first African United Methodist Bishops, had been battling cancer. He would have been 85 on April 14th.
The Methodist Bishop served as the short lived Prime Minister of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia, from June to December 1979, after an internal settlement was brokered between moderate black nationalists and the Rhodesian government under Ian Smith.
